Infidelity Recovery & Affair Therapy

Therapy for couples and individuals in the wreckage after an affair, focused on clear, well-informed decisions about what comes next.

What is Infidelity Recovery?

Infidelity recovery is not about proving every fact or answering every question. It is about understanding what betrayal changed. An affair doesn’t just break trust, it fractures emotional safety, confidence, and the future you thought you were building.

Most people become trapped investigating the past, believing that one more conversation, one more confession, or one more piece of evidence will finally bring peace. It rarely does. Healing begins when you stop chasing certainty and start rebuilding clarity, restoring trust where it’s possible, grieving what cannot be restored, and making thoughtful decisions about the life and relationship you want from this point forward.

Doug Lormand is a Licensed Professional Counselor and an AASECT-certified sex therapist serving adults across Texas, Colorado, and Louisiana.

Does this sound like you?

An affair does not stay in the past. It moves into the house with you. Some of this might land:

  • The person who once felt safest is now the person your nervous system struggles to trust.
  • Your heart wants to stay while your mind keeps planning an escape.
  • Trust becomes something you question instead of something you feel.
  • You are mourning a relationship that technically still exists.
  • You find yourself questioning not only the affair, but the entire story of your relationship.

What Infidelity Recovery Covers

  • Rebuilding trust after a betrayal.
  • Healing from emotional or physical affairs.
  • Managing the anger, anxiety, and intrusive thoughts that follow.
  • Restoring honesty and a sense of safety.
  • Understanding how the affair happened.
  • Rebuilding intimacy and connection.
  • Deciding whether to repair the relationship or end it.
  • Letting go of the urge to control or monitor a partner.
  • Understanding the difference between love and ownership.
  • Recognizing how trust turned into checking and surveillance.

How We Work Together

We start by getting honest about where things really stand, what happened, what it did to each of you, and what you each want now, without me taking a side.

Then we get practical. We work on getting out of the question-and-replay loop, rebuilding safety in a way that can be trusted, and figuring out whether repair is what you both want.

If both of you are in it, there is room for both of you. If only one of you comes, that is real work too.

Some of the most useful work happens one-on-one, even when the relationship is the problem. People are honest alone in ways they are not in front of a partner, and that honesty is where change starts. So I work in a hybrid: some joint, some solo. The relationship does not heal you. You heal it by showing up better.

We’re a good fit if:

You want a therapist who works differently

Not a standing weekly hour. Someone whose whole setup is built around being reachable when it counts.

You need help now, not in seven weeks

Something has come to a head, and sitting in a long intake queue is not something you can do right now.

You want movement, not a waiting room

You are ready for a therapist who names the pattern, asks the hard question, and helps you decide, on your own timeline.

How to Get Started

Here’s how Doug-on-Demand works, three simple steps.

  1. 01

    Reach Out Today

Fill out the contact form with your details and a brief description of what prompted you to reach out. New clients complete a short set of intake forms online.

  2. 02

Doug Calls You in 24 Hours

Once your forms are in, Doug reaches out personally, by the end of the day, or within 24 hours if it is late or after hours.

  3. 03

    Start the Work

Your time in therapy should match the work in front of you. Standard sessions run about an hour, with longer appointments available when a situation calls for more room to think or a hard decision to make.

Infidelity Recovery & Affair Counseling FAQs

Can trust really be rebuilt after an affair?

For many couples, yes, with honesty, time, and real change in behavior. For others, the same work leads to a clear decision to part. I will not promise you one outcome. I will help you get to a real one.

Do you work with individuals or only couples?

Both. Sometimes both partners come in. Sometimes one person comes to work through it on their own. Either is real work.

What if my partner will not come in?

That happens, and it does not mean you are stuck. A lot can shift when one person starts working on it honestly.

How soon can I get in?

Fast, on purpose. Discovery of an affair is not something that waits politely for a weeks-out appointment. Reach out today and you can usually be on the schedule within 24 hours, often the same day.

Can we do this online?

Yes. Sessions are online across Texas, Colorado, and Louisiana, so you can meet from somewhere private. You do need to be physically located in one of those three states.

How much does it cost, and do you take insurance?

Doug offers private-pay sessions and works with select insurance through third-party platforms, depending on what is available for your plan. He can also provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement when it applies. You will get the specifics when you reach out.

Will you take sides?

No. I am not there to hand out a verdict. I am there to be honest with both of you and help you figure out what you want to do.
